About this coffee

Origin

100% Cuban Arabica from the Eastern part of Cuban island. With fertile soil and ideal climate conditions, the region offers an excellent coffee growing environment.

Roasting

To enhance the potential of the beans and highlight their authenticity, Nespresso experts applied sophisticated split roasting technic. One half of the beans was roasted for a shorter time to a lighter colour to bring out all the unique flavours and specific aromas of the coffee.

The second half was roasted for a longer time to a much darker colour to create a strong body with velvety texture and intense rich flavours.

What people say

  • I decided to purchase a sleeve right before it sold out despite the price and oh my it’s delightful. Wish it wasn’t limited edition.

  • My favorites have been the Mexico and the Columbia and the Congo - and I’m a huge fan of the Cuba. I bought three more sleeves just because I really liked it and didn’t want to run out.

  • Loving my vertuo. Great coffee selections, Café de Cuba being my fav., only wish they had more espresso options besides the current five.

  • The café de Cuba is bloody lovely, if it weren’t like £7 per sleeve it’d replace my regular drink I think!!

  • SHUUUUUT UP!?!? This is my favorite flavor!!!! Edit to add: why isn’t this showing up in my app?

  • One of my favorites from Nespresso. I stocked up the last time and savored them for a couple of years. Did a minor stock up this time as well. I would say go for it. Only live once. Just don’t wait too long. My mom loved it and she is har…

  • My daughter sent me a sleeve of Cafe de Cuba from a Nespresso store in Portland. I tried it and It's spectacular, but the only option to buy them online is this bundle that is sold out. Any ideas where I can find them?

  • It’s been my favorite so far. I just drink it black and think it’s great.

  • It’s absolutely the best tasting Nespresso flavor and one of the best tasting cups of coffee I’ve had in general

  • I just ordered Café de Cuba for the first time and I’m really enjoying it! Wishing I’d ordered more than one sleeve despite the price. I haven’t tried my new Kona sleeve but have enjoyed it in the past. Stormio is my go-to, FWIW.

  • Miami and nothing else even comes close. Cuba is by far my favourite but Miami comes pretty damn close in terms of flavour.

  • i ordered it and it already arrived (with free shipping to boot). yaaaaaaa--it's one of if not the best tasting nespresso pods. thanks for the review. if it was just a few bucks cheaper, i would have ordered a few more sleeves.

  • It's my favorite pod. Not saying it's the same as getting Cuban coffee, but I love the pod. Wish it wasn't twice the cost of other pods, but I enjoy it very much.

  • I enjoyed these the first time they were available. My favorite Vertuo Cuban was to cut the capsule off at about one ounce, 35ml. Made a distinctly awesome and expensive espresso.

  • I don’t think it is as bitter as Bustelo. Honestly, my favorite thing about Café de Cuba is that it has a faint taste of tobacco. I wouldn’t think I would like that in coffee but I find it delicious.

Common questions

What is the intensity of Café de Cuba?

Café de Cuba has an intensity of 8 on the manufacturer's scale and is intended for a Coffee (230 ml) cup size.

Which machines does Café de Cuba fit?

Café de Cuba is a Vertuo capsule and fits Vertuo machines only. Vertuo and Original capsules are physically different and are not interchangeable.

Is Café de Cuba a capsule or a coffee pod?

Both words describe the same thing. The manufacturer calls them capsules, and English-language stores also say coffee pods; Café de Cuba is one sealed portion of ground coffee either way. This site says "capsule" throughout only for consistency — searching for "Café de Cuba pods" and "Café de Cuba capsules" will find the same coffee.

What does Café de Cuba taste like?

The published flavour notes for Café de Cuba are fruity, intense, roasted, smoky, smoky notes, smoky wood.

What cup size is Café de Cuba brewed at?

Storefronts list Café de Cuba at more than one size: Coffee (230 ml), Gran Lungo (150 ml).

Can Café de Cuba be brewed shorter and stronger for a milk drink?

On Vertuo machines with Coffee Creations the same capsule brews a shorter, stronger cup, intended as the base for iced and milk drinks. It is an extra mode, not the only one these machines have: a normal cup is still one press. On Vertuo Next, Pop, Pop+, Lattissima and Creatista you turn it on by pressing the coffee button twice — it blinks turquoise, the mode applies to that cup only, and the machine goes back to brewing normally afterwards; Vertuo Up has a dedicated Coffee Creations button, and there the mode stays on until the machine is switched off. The size steps down one place: an Espresso capsule brews as a Ristretto (25 ml), Double Espresso and Gran Lungo brew as an Espresso (40 ml), and a Mug capsule brews as a Double Espresso (80 ml). The machine refuses the mode for Ristretto, Cold Brew Style and Carafe capsules — the mode switches off again and the barcode size is brewed — and Nespresso does not recommend it for Alto or the Coffee+ range. In the rare case that the double press does nothing, try updating the machine’s firmware from the Nespresso app. Older Vertuo models, including Vertuo Plus, brew only the size written in the barcode.
