About this coffee

Origin

Classic Arabica varieties and a special approach to post-harvesting processing deliver the elegant acidity and jammy character of this Q-Grade coffee. This coffee is roasted using the split-roast technique, with the average short time and low temperature, making this a particularly light roast.

Most of the coffee is in the first split and a small proportion in the second, darker split to add some intensity.

Summary of what people say: This capsule for Original Line has a clear berry-like character, but a longer milk drink can become weak and bland. The capsule is better approached as a short espresso when you want the fruit to stay focused.

  • Works as a focused espresso
  • A long milk drink can become weak and bland

What people say

  • I’ve only had one so far (as a lungo), with milk, but found it very weak and bland so I’ll do an espresso next time and see how that goes.

Common questions

What is the intensity of Papua New Guinea?

Papua New Guinea has an intensity of 5 on the manufacturer's scale and is intended for a Espresso (40 ml) cup size.

Which machines does Papua New Guinea fit?

Papua New Guinea is an Original-line capsule and fits Original machines. It does not fit Vertuo machines, which use a different capsule shape. The official store also sells a Vertuo capsule under the name Papua New Guinea. They are different products with the same name, so check which line a pack is for before buying: this page covers the Original one.

Is Papua New Guinea a capsule or a coffee pod?

Both words describe the same thing. The manufacturer calls them capsules, and English-language stores also say coffee pods; Papua New Guinea is one sealed portion of ground coffee either way. This site says "capsule" throughout only for consistency — searching for "Papua New Guinea pods" and "Papua New Guinea capsules" will find the same coffee.

What does Papua New Guinea taste like?

The published flavour notes for Papua New Guinea are cocoa, floral, flowery, fruity, spicy.

What cup size is Papua New Guinea brewed at?

Storefronts list Papua New Guinea at more than one size: Espresso (40 ml), Lungo (110 ml).

When was Papua New Guinea on sale?

We recorded Papua New Guinea on sale between 2022 and 2023. Years without a record are shown as gaps; they mean our covered sources did not confirm a sale, not that absence in every country is proven.

What is similar to Papua New Guinea?

The closest matches we hold are Ethiopia, TAMUKA mu ZIMBABWE, Arabica Ethiopia Harrar Original, scored on cup size, flavour notes, intensity and the published sensory profile.
