Best Nespresso capsules, by community rating
68 capsules rated from published opinion, best first. Cosi leads at 4.2 out of 5.
Each score is the mean of opinions read in full from public sources, counted once per author. A capsule appears only once at least five independent authors have been read, so a capsule missing from this list is one we have not gathered enough evidence about — not one that scored badly. Every excerpt links to where it was published.

Cosi
Cosi is generally described as a mild, light Original capsule with light or fruity flavours. People use it with milk, over ice or for cappuccino, and some choose it as a regular afternoon coffee. Several call it a favourite or their best light roast, while some people find it too mild, bland or lacking character.
Source (opens in a new tab)The Nespresso cosi is a lot better, the flavor is more nuanced and also lingers on the palette much longer which I enjoy
Source (opens in a new tab)My personal best 3 are: Cosi, Ethopia, Nicaragua.

Ispirazione Millennio
Ispirazione Millennio is a medium-intensity Original Line espresso with moderate acidity, bitterness and body. It can come across as smooth and pleasant, with enough acidity to keep it lively; some cups feel flatter than expected, while milk brings out a rounder side.
Source (opens in a new tab)I’ve only opened the black box so far and it is delicious.
Source (opens in a new tab)It’s more acidic than the Ispirazione Novecento, but regardless it’s a nice coffee to try out.

Linizio Lungo
This light, cereal-toned Original Line lungo can be smooth, balanced and pleasantly easy to drink. It works black or with a little milk, and its roasted cereal notes can pair with cinnamon or banana syrup; milk may also make the cup seem watery, and the mild profile will not excite every palate.
Source (opens in a new tab)I find that milk makes Linizio Luongo taste watery
Source (opens in a new tab)The Vienna Linizio Lungo doesnt really do anything for me, can’t quite figure out why.

CAFECITO DE CUBA

Vivalto Lungo
Vivalto Lungo is a much-loved Original Line lungo with a smooth, complex and flowery character. It works black, in milk drinks, as a large iced preparation and as an everyday coffee, while the reformulated and Tokyo versions can taste different.
Source (opens in a new tab)visit friends. They had an original Nespresso and had the blue vivalto lungo pods, and it was by far the best coffee I've had. Now I have the newer machine that is unable to use the OG pods. Do you…
Source (opens in a new tab)I always try all the new ones but end up going back to Fortissio Lungo and Vivalto Lungo

Caffè Florian

Source (opens in a new tab)Tried recently, very good, strong and bold with excellent roasting.
Source (opens in a new tab)I liked it but for me it was a mild to medium roast taste. Nothing special.

Istanbul Espresso
Istanbul is generally liked for its dark, dense intensity and spicy, almond or chocolate notes, with some people preferring it in a cappuccino. A smaller negative group mentions acidity or sourness and difficulty liking the capsule.

Source (opens in a new tab)if you want a good LE get the Honduras. Has those dark coco notes but doesn’t taste like cocoa truffle.
Source (opens in a new tab)This is such a great pod on its own but absolutely tasty mix it with arpeggio. Tasted like dark chocolate.

Jamaica Blue Mountain
Jamaica Blue Mountain is widely praised as smooth, balanced and flavorful, with earthy or almost sweet notes and an easy-drinking character.
Source (opens in a new tab)I had it as a espresso and it was really good. Then I had it as a small americano. I added 80 ml or so of hot water to the brewed espresso. All black, no sugar or milk. It is delicious as americano.
Source (opens in a new tab)As an espresso it is very tasty, medium and balanced, light-medium roast. Not very bitter. It has a rich, earthy, and almost sweet flavor.

Kazaar
The most divisive of the everyday Original capsules. People who want the darkest, most caffeinated cup treat it as their default and describe it as consistently good; others find the same intensity comes through as bitter or woody and put the sleeve aside. Nearly everyone agrees it is a capsule you drink for…
Source (opens in a new tab)I love kazaar but also Peet’s and Starbucks brand OL pods too.
Source (opens in a new tab)the ones mentioned (kazaar, Napoli, arpeggio etc) are great but aren’t roasted like scurro so imo won’t taste like a scurro.

Cape Town Lungo
Cape Town Lungo is often a favorite Original Line lungo with strong, woody, spicy and full-bodied character, working well black, with milk or in iced drinks.
Source (opens in a new tab)Has anyone experienced odd tasting Cape Town Lungos recently? This is one of my staple favourites, so I know it well.
Source (opens in a new tab)I was expecting it to be more caramel-ish but despite being quite strong, it's very woody

Cafezinho do Brasil
Cafezinho do Brasil is a distinctive Original Line limited edition with syrupy body, crema and earthy, walnut-like, sandalwood or tropical notes. It works black or with milk; earlier versions may show stronger bitterness or herbal character.

Galapagos is often described as balanced, creamy and memorable, with fruit, earth or chocolate-like notes.
Source (opens in a new tab)If you liked the JBM when it was out, you might not enjoy this as much, but it is still a damn fine cup of coffee and pretty interesting to try.
Source (opens in a new tab)Same here, would not pay $20 for it, however. At $10 it was a solid purchase!

Chiaro
Some people find it weak, bright or cloying.

Source (opens in a new tab)the Chiaro pods? They’re my absolute favourite!!!

Source (opens in a new tab)I know I did not care for Corto hot or iced, it was too much for me surprisingly.
Source (opens in a new tab)I have enjoyed the cosi and corto and don’t love any of the super intense ones. But just yesterday, I brewed a corto and added steamed milk but the coffee tasted bitter and smelled a bit burnt.

Cadiz Espresso
Cadiz Espresso is a smooth Original Line espresso with sweet notes and possible caramel and chocolate character. It can be enjoyable or even excellent, although the aftertaste may be bitter and the profile is not especially distinctive for everyone.

Explorations 3 Galapagos Santa Cruz
Explorations 3 Galapagos Santa Cruz is an Original Line espresso with a rounded profile that can show creamy milk chocolate, fruit and earth, plus a long aftertaste. Source (opens in a new tab)I loved the Galapagos Islands LE from earlier this year. ... The Galapagos LE reminded me of Dharkan.
Source (opens in a new tab)It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't match my tastes, which I should have expected going in.

Fortissio Lungo
Fortissio Lungo is a cereal-toned Original Line lungo that many drinkers return to, especially with milk or over ice. Its longer black extraction can seem watery to some, while others value the mellow cereal character and use a shorter or milk-based preparation to give it more body. It suits a softer, easy-drinking…
Source (opens in a new tab)I like the Fortissio Lungo, but as a lungo it's too watery, so I brew it as two singles out of one capsule, so it's a little less watery.
